School Ministry

Supporting Students, Encouraging Teachers, Sharing Christ’s Love

At St. Andrew United Methodist Church, our School Ministry is dedicated to building relationships and providing practical support to the students, teachers, and staff at the schools we serve. Through acts of kindness, encouragement, service, and prayer, we strive to share Christ’s love with our community and help students thrive both academically and personally.

"Let the little children come to me." — Mark 10:14

Our Mission

The School Ministry partners with local schools to support students, teachers, and families through volunteer service, outreach programs, encouragement, and prayer. We seek to be a positive presence in our schools and demonstrate God's love in meaningful ways.

Our School Partners

🏫 Oak Park Elementary School

🏫 James Madison Middle School

We are blessed to serve these schools and their communities throughout the year.

How We Serve

🎃 Pumpkin Patch Story Time

Each fall, we welcome local students to our Pumpkin Patch for special field trips filled with stories, treats, pumpkins, and fun.

Last year, 217 Oak Park Elementary students attended Story Time at the Pumpkin Patch. These mornings were filled with laughter, learning, and wonderful memories. We are grateful for the many volunteers who helped make these visits possible.

🏀 Crossover at James Madison Middle School

Every Tuesday morning before school, we host Crossover, a gathering for students at James Madison Middle School.

Students enjoy:

  • Breakfast and snacks

  • Basketball, billiards, and ping pong

  • Conversation and friendship

  • Encouragement and mentorship

  • A welcoming place to begin their day

Before Christmas break, students were treated to a special celebration and received small gifts.

🎨 Art Club Support

St. Andrew volunteers support the James Madison Middle School Art Club each Tuesday by providing:

  • Adult chaperones

  • Snacks and refreshments

  • Art supplies and materials

  • Encouragement for students and staff

Thanks to generous donations from our congregation, students have the resources they need to explore their creativity and artistic talents.

🥫 Mohawk Market Food Pantry

Each Friday, volunteers assist with the Mohawk Market, a student food pantry at James Madison Middle School.

Students may receive:

  • Non-perishable food items

  • School supplies

  • Clothing and personal necessities

This ministry helps ensure students have access to resources they may need to succeed both in and out of the classroom.

🤝 Best Buddies Program

Twice each month, we provide snacks and encouragement to students participating in the Best Buddies Program during lunch.

This program promotes friendship, inclusion, and support among students. During the Christmas season, our church provided special Christmas pajama pants for students in the program as a reminder that they are loved and valued.

🍎 Supporting Teachers

Throughout the school year, we celebrate and encourage educators through:

  • Teacher appreciation breakfasts

  • Special snack deliveries

  • Fill-the-Fridge events

  • Seasonal treats and encouragement

We recognize the incredible dedication of teachers and staff and seek to support them in practical ways.

🎄 Holiday Outreach

During the Christmas season, we help provide gifts and support through our:

  • Christmas Angel Tree Program

  • Student Christmas celebrations

  • Special holiday outreach opportunities

These programs help bring joy and hope to students and families during the holiday season.
